Mount Pleasant aim to secure CCC semi-final spot

Mount Pleasant Football Academy can secure a historic semi-final berth in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup (CCC) when they take on Trinidad and Tobago club Central at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad, this evening at 8.
Mount Pleasant are second in Group A, on goal difference, after maximum six points from their two matches.
Central, who are two points behind in third, will be playing their final game of the group and have to win to keep their hopes of a place in the next phase alive.
Mount Pleasant FA's Sporting Director Paul Christie says the team and coaching staff are fully aware of what is at stake and are prepared to go out and get the result.
"We go into tomorrow's (today) game fully immersed in what needs to be done. We are aware that we are in Trinidad and we are two points ahead of our opponents, so we are not taking anything for granted. We are just here to do the best that we can," he said.
"A win would get us into the semi-finals and we are aware of that and focusing on the objective, so we can get the job done and try to make Jamaica people proud."
He noted that the long-standing rivalry between Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica will have an influence on how the teams approach the game.
"There is always an ongoing rivalry between Trinidad and Jamaica and we are also aware of that. Mr Whitmore (Theodore) has done it as a coach and as a player, so he is fully aware of the rivalry with Trinidad and we are not taking it lightly. So we have put in the best preparation possible in order to get the result," he pointed out.
A win or a draw for Mount Pleasant would set up a top-of-the-table clash with O&M of Dominican Republic for group honours, when the teams meet in their final group match at the National Stadium on September 30.
