Galiday Bounce to benefit hurricane victims
Part proceeds of this year's staging of Galiday Bounce will go towards those impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
Slated to be held on New Year's Eve at Amazura Concert Hall in New York, the event will he headlined by popular dancehall artiste Kraff.
The show's promoter, Galdiez, said his late mother played a major role in his decision to be a part of the hurricane relief effort.
"Giving back was instilled in me from early by Mama Ventress and that is something that I carried to my adult days. Our brothers and sisters in the west need our help. Jamaica has experienced a disaster like no other and this is the time when we just have to join forces and rebuild Jamaica," he said.
The destruction left by Hurricane Melissa has placed a damper on the local entertainment industry, which led to a few cancellations, including Sting, Ghetto Splash and Mavado's return show. Galdiez, however, stated that while the thought of postponing Galiday Bounce came across his mind, he decided to press on after remembering his mother's constant acts of kindness.
"I know a lot of entertainment shows have been cancelled due to Melissa but I decided to go on with mine, as I know whatever is contributed from the sales will make a difference. My mother was never one to give up. I am just asking the persons to come out and support the cause. The line-up is a good one and we will have surprise acts as well," Galdiez said.
In addition to Kraff, Galiday Bounce will feature performances from artistes including Tatik, Kkrytical, Sita, Foota Hype, Joe Young, FyaaMan, and Kayson Full Charge.
